Crowdfunding, Early Access, and a Little Help from a Friend
Kickstarter Nov 13th 2023, Early Access late Q2 2024
The time is finally getting close, even if I had to navigate more hurdles to get here than I expected. I appreciate the patience, especially from the people who have been most enthusiastic in supporting me on this project.
The main news you will care about
I will launch a Kickstarter campaign on November 13th 2023. This will raise funds for a final push of development to get something in people’s hands for Early Access in late Q2 2024. Among other things this will allow me to offload some mobile development work and also to license professional art and music.
My friend Casey Muratori has very generously been helping behind the scenes preparing for the crowdfund, and together we will be doing a series of promotional videos in conjunction with his Performance Aware Programming course. I am obviously biased — still, despite being on the more experienced side of Casey’s audience, his course has more than paid for itself in improving my professional work already.
There are a few smaller promotional treats coming this November, including the extremely-delayed-but-much-improved LibQuincy 1.2 as well as an unannounced project that will, I think, be a fun complement to LibQuincy in addition to being useful in its own right.
There will be much more communication on this feed now that the R+D phase is nearly complete and as, I hope, the Crowdfund will allow me to spend less time on usual business and direct my attention exclusively to getting this project out the door and into people’s hands.
Once again, everyone’s patience and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated. It has made the low points of the long R+D slog much more bearable.
